Artist

Lianne Quigley is a Deaf artist and activist based in Ireland. She works as a performer, director, writer and collaborating artist, often utilising Irish Sign Language (ISL) to express narratives and experiences. She is also an ISL tour guide and she has worked with the Project Arts Centre and other arts organisations to look at ways of expanding opportunities for Deaf artists and audiences.

What we reveal. What we hide. The fear of falling. MAY FALL is about lowering your guard, daring to fall, and risking your heart. It is about love.

On a dark stage, there is a single human figure bent forward. The person wears a light-colored shirt (white or pale gray) and dark shorts or trousers. They are holding and pressing their face into a large piece of red fabric, soft and layered with flowing ruffles, similar to tulle or chiffon, which falls toward the floor. The dominant colors are the bright red of the fabric and the black or deep blue of the background. A focused theatrical light illuminates the figure and the fabric, creating strong contrast. No other objects are visible; the mood feels intimate and dramatic.
