Since 2018, at the heart of the new artistic project conceived by Arthur Nauzyciel, significant work has been undertaken in favor of inclusion and accessibility: towards the public to promote accessibility (specific equipment and support for spectators with disabilities); at the core of the new educational project of the TNB Drama School (long-term mentorship between students of the TNB Drama School and the Catalyse troupe, composed of actors with disabilities); at the heart of the TNB programming with the regular invitation of shows led by unique artists, with physical, mental, and psychological disabilities. Since 2024, thanks to the support of the members of the cultural circle of the philanthropic association Un Esprit de famille and the complicity of the Centre National de Création Adaptée, the TNB has been accompanying and supporting new artistic projects created by and/or with artists in vulnerable situations, men and women with disabilities. The specificity of this program EXTRA-ORDINAIRE is based on the desire to support each artistic project over a long period of time: from the first creative residencies, through to the first performances and distribution. Joining the Europe Beyond Access project is an opportunity for us to share and increase our commitment and support
The TNB is an eminent CDN (National Center for the Dramatic Arts) in the French cultural landscape: it is also a European Centre for the Theatrical and Choreographic Arts; it organizes an annual international festival, has a cinema and runs an important drama school: l’École Supérieure d’Art Dramatique (TNB Drama School). The TNB welcomes some 200,000 spectators each season across its many programs: live performances, cinema, special events and workshops.
In 2017 Arthur Nauzyciel was appointed director of the TNB, bringing with him a new project rooted in a set of three principles: “Share, Transmit, Exchange”. Involved in this project were 16 associate artists (from theatre, dance, performative and visual arts, literature, cinema), a research fellow, and an academic director. In 2021 10 other associate artists joined the TNB. This new project removes the barriers between disciplines and invites the audience to move freely between them.
