Meat Girls
Description: Meat Girls was created around the thought of suppression of a part of one’s psyche which has been forced on women during the imposed process of taking a form of a “standarised patriarchal object of desire”
Extra information: The thread of the piece is built around a set of images such as embryonic development, birth, getting into certain clichés of female beauty combined with the metamorphosis of the suppressed, loneliness/dissociation, and finally drainage/becoming a symbol of sacrifice
The process focused on somaesthetics and work with cultural cliches and symbols combined somatic practices and resulted in an installation on the verge of metaphoric minimalism and abstraction.
dir. Piotr Sędkowski
dramaturgy: Marcin Miętus
choreography: Dominika Wiak
Wróżda
Description: Wróżda in polish means the right to blood revenge for the death or insult of a relative. An eye for an eye? A tooth for a tooth? But what about sexual violence? Welcome to a magical land where revenge becomes the beginning of a happy ending
Extra information: In this subversive fairy tale for adults, Doris Złababa (Joanna Dębska) and her three fairy daughters — Dorotka, Empusa, and Nemesis (Karolina Kotwa, Zuzanna Meyer, Adrianna Helena Mrowiec) — lead the audience into a bizarre show where latex skirts meet opera singing. Beneath the humor lies a story of reclaiming bodily autonomy, fear, and vengeance.
Blending drag aesthetics with performative theatre, Wróżda transforms a kitschy Grimm-like world into a space of matriarchal revolution.
dir. Joanna Dębska
Lekker
Description: A word-and-movement performance exploring the trauma of growing up and the complexities of family relationships
Extra information: The starting point for the stage composition was a set of photographs from the wedding of director and choreographer Marika Kornacka’s grandparents, as well as the book Bezmatek by Mira Marcinów.
dir. Marika Kornacka
Brakarki
Description: In the performance, we return to the tradition of physical labor, exploring its connections with another form of material — dance
Extra information: The piece juxtaposes the dancers’ physical possibilities with the history of textile workers from Łódź, prompting reflections on the similarities between these seemingly different kinds of work.
Processing tons of fabric, carefully controlling every centimeter of material, and the main task — eliminating defects. So we asked ourselves: what would a “defect” in dance be? Can a non-normative body be part of the creative industry? Is what we do a mistake — or a new quality?
