About the Performance
LAYERS is a performance rooted in radical imagination, envisioning worlds that resist capitalist and patriarchal structures. Created and performed by Katarzyna Żeglicka and Alicja Czyczel, the work investigates the transformative power of imagining alternatives. Drawing from their personal histories, queer feminist perspectives, embodied practices, and visions of utopia, they assemble a stage narrative woven from dreams of anarchist futures.
Artistic Influences
The piece takes inspiration from Cristina Morales’ novel Lectura fácil.
LAYERS becomes an energetic collage of experiences shaped by non-normative bodies: part feminist-queer montage, part gentle call for a borderless world, part playful utopia, and part defiant meditation on ageing.
Format: A Relaxed Performance
The show is designed as a relaxed performance, inviting audiences to step outside conventional expectations of spectatorship. Participants are welcome to move through both the audience and stage spaces, choosing how to experience the work—sitting, lying down, standing, or shifting as needed—without the pressure to remain silent or still.
Accessibility
Visuals, sound, and lighting will be arranged with care to avoid sensory discomfort.
Audio description can be available through headphones and partially woven into the spoken text.
All spoken words on stage can be translated into sign language, with the interpreter fully integrated into the performance as a co-performer.
